A former member of INC Arvind Kumar Sharma contested and won 17th Lok Sabha elections from Rohtak as a BJP candidate. He was first elected into Lok Sabha in 1996 from Sonipat as an independent candidate. Subsequently, he won two consecutive general elections from Karnal and INC candidate. However, he lost the 2014 election.
