Sambit Patra was born in the year 1974 on the 13th of December. His birthplace is Bokaro Steel City. Rabindra Nath Patra, his father, was an employee at Bokaro Steel Plant. He underwent his primary education at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Bokaro.
He obtained his MBBS degree from the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Sambalpur, in 1997. Subsequently, he went for a Master of Surgery (MS) in General Surgery at SCB Medical College, Cuttack and completed it in 2002.
He is quite an accomplished professional. This fact is witnessed in his joining of the Hindu Rao Hospital in Delhi as a Medical Officer after he had qualified for the UPSC Combined Medical Services Examination in 2003. He has been actively engaged in politics since 2010. This year, he was with the Bharatiya Janata Party and became the spokesperson of its Delhi unit. He was progressively promoted to be the national spokesperson of the BJP in 2014. His fame grew far and wide for his excellent performances in debates and public communication in the media.
Not long after he was chosen for this party position, in 2017, he was appointed a non-official director at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). Following a couple of years, he was entrusted with a new responsibility as Chairman of the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) in November 2021.
In the general election of 2024, he was a candidate for the Puri (Odisha) Lok Sabha seat. He won the election, and as a result, he got the rivals and the rest of the field beaten by a wide margin. He holds a dual responsibility at present, that of the BJP national spokesperson and ITDC chairman, along with being an MP from Puri.
