Rakesh Sinha

Rakesh‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Sinha is a politically active intellectual and a senior academic and author. He has been associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party as a member and served as a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha from 2018 to 2024. He is known for his knowledge in political science and cultural national thought and has written a good number of books on ideology and social change.

Rakesh Sinha Biography

Dr‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Rakesh Sinha was born to a family in Manserpur, Bihar, on 5th September 1964. He pursued his studies at the University of Delhi and obtained his degrees of BA, MA, MPhil, and PhD in political science. After he was engaged in research on the ideological change of political movements and he was later appointed as a faculty member at Motilal Nehru College, DU.

He went on to create the India Policy Foundation, which is a think tank in Delhi whose primary focus is on governance, culture, and strategic policy. He was selected by the President to be a member of the Rajya Sabha in July 2018, on the recommendation of the government. He was a member of the Home Affairs committee, among others, in the Parliament, and he used his academic experience for the debates in the legislature.

As of 2025, Dr Sinha is still a prominent intellectual and party circle leader who is actively involved in the national policy, cultural governance, and public ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌discourse.

Rakesh Sinha secured the sixth rank in the Bihar Board Examination and was honored with two gold medals in 1981.

In recognition of his dedication to nationalistic writings, Rakesh Sinha was honoured with the Bipin Chandra Pal Award in 2000.

In 2017, his noteworthy contributions in the field of social science were acknowledged with the Deendayal Upadhyay Award.
