Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimha Rao served as the 9th Prime Minister of India. He was also well-known as the "Father of Indian Economic Reforms".
Interestingly, he was the second holder in this position from a non-Hindi-speaking region and the first from the southern part of India.
Moreover, Rao was referred to as Chanakya for his ability to steer economic and political legislation.
Other side, Rao's term also faced the destruction of the Babri Mosque in Ayodhya when BJP's Kalyan Singh was the Chief Minister, which was one of the worst Hindu-Muslim riots in the nation since its independence. However, during his student life, he was a part of the Vande Mataram movement in Hyderabad.
He was also an active freedom fighter during the Indian Independence movement and joined full-time politics after independence as a member of the Indian National Congress party.
A man of many interests, he likes music, cinema and theatre. His special interest lies in Indian philosophy and culture, writing fiction and political commentary, learning languages, writing poems in Telugu and Hindi and keeping abreast of literature in general.
Apart from this, Rao was born on 28 June 1921 to Sitarama Rao and Rukma Bai. In 2004, he died due to a heart attack in New Delhi.
