Nisith Pramanik was born on January 17, 1986, in the Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. He began his professional life as a school teacher before entering active politics, building early connections at the grassroots level.

He initially joined the All India Trinamool Congress but shifted to the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2019, marking a significant turning point in his political career.

Soon after joining the BJP, he was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Cooch Behar constituency in 2019, gaining national-level recognition and establishing himself as a key leader in North Bengal.

In 2021, he was inducted into the Union Council of Ministers as Minister of State for Home Affairs and Youth Affairs & Sports, becoming one of the youngest ministers in the central government.

He continued his political activities in West Bengal and remained actively engaged in regional electoral politics, particularly in the Mathabhanga area.

In the 2026 Assembly election, he contested from Mathabhanga as the BJP candidate and secured 143,340 votes. He defeated his nearest rival by 57,090 votes, delivering a strong mandate and entering the Legislative Assembly.
