K. Lakshminarayanan

K. Lakshminarayanan was born on 10 June 1960 in Puducherry, Union Territory of Puducherry, into a family with roots in public life. He pursued higher education and is documented as a graduate and a law graduate, combining academic credentials with active engagement in political movements.

He began his public life in student politics through the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) in the 1980s, later serving as General Secretary of the state Youth Congress Committee and President of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) in the Union Territory.

Lakshminarayanan first entered electoral politics successfully in 2001, winning the Cassicade Assembly constituency and later Raj Bhavan constituency after delimitation, retaining the seat in 2011, 2016, and 2021. He served as a minister in previous administrations with portfolios including Education, Revenue, and Tourism.

In 2021, after leaving the Indian National Congress over internal differences, he joined the All India NR Congress (AINRC) and won the Raj Bhavan seat under its banner. He has held ministerial responsibilities in the Puducherry government, including Public Works, Tourism & Civil Aviation, Law, Information Technology, and Fisheries & Fishermen Welfare, overseeing infrastructure and sectoral development.

As of 2026, he continues in these leadership roles as a Cabinet Minister and MLA, serving in the Puducherry government.
