A.K. Sai J. Saravanan Kumar

A. K. Sai J. Saravanan Kumar entered politics through grassroots involvement and emerged as a BJP leader in the Union Territory of Puducherry. His political engagement grew as the BJP sought to strengthen its presence in the region, particularly among Scheduled Caste communities.

In the 2021 Puducherry Assembly elections, Saravanan Kumar contested from the Oussudu (SC) Assembly constituency and won, marking his first term as an MLA. His victory contributed to the BJP’s alliance success with the All India NR Congress in forming the government.

Following his election, on 27 June 2021, he was appointed Cabinet Minister in the Government of Puducherry, holding portfolios including Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, DRDA, Community Development, Urban Basic Services, Fire Services, and Minority Affairs, roles focused on social welfare and administrative services.

In June 2025, he resigned from the cabinet ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections on the directive of the BJP leadership; however, he remained an MLA representing Oussudu and continued his legislative work and constituency service.

As of 2026, he continues as an MLA in the Puducherry Legislative Assembly.
