Farooq Abdullah was born on October 21, 1937, in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, into the politically prominent Abdullah family. He pursued medical education and earned his MBBS before turning to politics following the death of his father, Sheikh Abdullah, a towering figure in J&K politics.
