Mohammad Khalil Bandh is a well-known politician. He began his career as a Member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, representing the Pulwama constituency three times—in 2002, 2008, and 2014—while he was with the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party (PDP). During his time with the PDP, he also served as the district president of the party.
In 2018, he was appointed as the Agriculture and Production Minister by Mehbooba Mufti. However, his tenure in this role was cut short when the PDP-BJP alliance collapsed later that year.
In 2019, Khalil Bandh resigned from the PDP, citing concerns over the party's treatment of its senior leaders. Following his resignation, he joined the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, where he currently serves as the Constituency Incharge for Pulwama.
He is a contestant from Pulwama in the upcoming 2024 assembly elections.
