Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, born on October 15, 1957, in Pakhapur village, has an extensive political career. He served as the Union Cabinet Minister for the Ministry of Heavy Industries from July 7, 2021, onwards, and previously held the position of Union Cabinet Minister for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship from 2019 to 2021.

He was re-elected to the 17th Lok Sabha in May 2019 for his second term. The Bharatiya Janta party (BJP) has again nominated him to contest from the Chandauli constituency in the 2024 general election.

Dr. Pandey was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha in May 2014. Throughout his career, he has held various significant positions, including being a Member of the Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare and serving as the Union Minister of State for the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

He has also served as a Minister of State for different departments in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, he has been actively involved in political activities, serving as Secretary of the BJP State Legislature in Uttar Pradesh.
