Dr. Jayanta Kumar Roy

Dr. Jayanta Kumar Roy was born to Hemendra Narayan Roy and Jaya Roy in Lataguri on 3rd February 1968. He married Debjani Roy in 1992 and is blessed with two children.
He was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha elections from the Jalpaiguri constituency in West Bengal in the 2019 general elections as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate.
Currently, he is serving as a Member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
His special interest lies in the cultivation of local languages and local folk art forms, especially Bhaowaiya, Goalparia, etc.
As a Doctor by profession, he is a pivotal figure in organising health check-ups and awareness courses across North Bengal.
Having a longstanding affiliation with Roots, a welfare organisation for folk artists, he has dedicated himself to promoting various folk art forms of North Bengal and West Bengal, often collaborating with CIIL, Government of India.
Additionally, he enjoys participating in sports like football, cricket, and badminton.
