Chintamani Maharaj

Chintamani Maharaj was born to Rameshwar Gahira Guru Maharaj in Chhattisgarh on 26 January 1968. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and he will contest on the BJP ticket from the Surguja constituency in Chhattisgarh for the 18th Lok Sabha elections.

Before this, he was a member of the Indian National Congress (INC). In 2008, he contested from the Samri constituency but lost against Siddha Nath Paikra, garnering a 15% vote share.

In the Vidhan Sabha seat from Lundra in 1013, he won against Vijay Baba, garnering a 46% vote share. He had reached the assembly for the second time by winning from the Samari assembly of Balrampur district on a Congress ticket. But this time, the INC did not give him the ticket so he joined the BJP at the time of elections. He even rebelled against the party after not getting the ticket.

On the other hand, the BJP had promised him at that time that he would be given a Lok Sabha ticket and keeping its promise, the BJP gave him the ticket.

He had also been the Chairperson of the State Sanskrit Board during the previous BJP rule. With his efforts, he has also opened a Sanskrit college in Jashpur district of the state for Sanskrit education.

Before entering into politics, his main work was farming. Along with doing farming himself, he also inspired the youth to do farming. He thought this is an agricultural country where 80 per cent of the people rely on farming for their livelihood. He considered farming as a better medium to remove unemployment and set an example for the country by involving unemployed youth in the field of agriculture.

He also had a special interest in cow service. He is still doing the work of serving the cow. He has also been working in the field of social reform.

He opposes the wasteful expenditure in marriages and also encourages group marriages. Chintamani Maharaj married Ravikala Singh on 26 May 1992. He has two sons and three daughters with her.

Chintamani Maharaj's net worth is Rs 1,95,92,693 while his liabilities stand at Rs 44,41,334.
