Janardan Singh Sigriwal Biography

Janardan Singh Sigriwal was born on January 2, 1959, and he is a person who has been a huge support to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has, over the years, proven to be an asset to it. From Bhumihara village in Saran district, Bihar, He completed his M.A. in Political Science from Rajendra College, Chapra.

Sigriwal got his political footing when he succeeded in the Jalalpur seat at the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2000. Later, he was the representative of Chapra from 2005 to 2014. In his time, he was the Minister of Art, Culture & Youth Affairs (2005–2008) and Minister of Labour Resources (2010–2013) in the Nitish Kumar government.

Sigriwal was successful in the Maharajganj Lok Sabha seat in 2014 when he made a move to national politics. He won the 2019 and 2024 elections as well, hence he is currently serving his third term in the 18th Lok Sabha.

He is well known for his energetic presence in the parliament and has voiced issues that are relevant for the development of his constituency, like infrastructure and agricultural reforms. Besides this, he has supported and taken part in demonstrations that have demanded the rights of Bihar's teacher aspirants.
