Chandrashekhar Krishnarao Bawankule

Chandrashekhar Krishnarao Bawankule was born on January 19, 1969, in Maharashtra. He began his political journey through grassroots involvement in local governance and gradually rose within the ranks of the Bharatiya Janata Party, building a strong political base in the Vidarbha region.

He was elected as a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Kamptee constituency and served multiple terms. During the BJP-led government in Maharashtra (2014–2019), he held key cabinet portfolios, including Energy, New and Renewable Energy, and State Excise. His tenure focused on power sector reforms and infrastructure development in the state.

After the 2019 Assembly elections, where he lost his seat, he transitioned into a major organizational role within the party. In 2022, he was appointed President of the BJP’s Maharashtra unit, playing a central role in strengthening the party’s structure and electoral strategy across the state.

Under his leadership, the BJP focused on expanding its base in Maharashtra, particularly in Vidarbha and other regions. His role has been crucial in coordinating party activities, managing alliances, and shaping political strategy in the state.

As of 2026, he continues to serve as the Maharashtra BJP President and remains an influential political leader in the state, actively involved in party organization and political developments.
