Dr. Arun Kumar Singh was born on August 2, 1970, in Baburban village, located in the Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. He hails from a politically influential Rajput family. His late father, Brij Kishor Singh, was also a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Baruraj constituency, serving from 2005 to 2015.

Arun Kumar Singh is highly educated, holding a Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree, a Master of Arts (M.A.), and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). He completed his higher education at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University and L.N. Mishra College, Muzaffarpur.

He began his political journey at the grassroots level, serving as a Ward Parishad (Ward Member) in Muzaffarpur from 2002 to 2007. During this period, he focused on local community issues such as road repairs, public sanitation, education, and various welfare initiatives.

In the 2015 Bihar Assembly Elections, he contested from the Baruraj constituency as a BJP candidate but was unsuccessful, losing to Nand Kumar Rai of the Rashtriya Janata Dal by a margin of 4,909 votes. However, he successfully contested the same seat in the 2020 Bihar Assembly Elections, defeating Nand Kumar Rai by a significant margin of 43,654 votes and securing 51% of the total votes polled. Since then, he has been serving as the MLA for the Baruraj constituency.

He is married to Anjani Singh, who is involved in business and agriculture. They have three children: two sons, Anshuman Singh and Yashraj Singh, and one daughter, Shreyasi Singh. He resides in Mataiya village, Muzaffarpur.
