Dr. Yashwant Singh was born on 1st March 1962. He is a medical doctor by profession and completed his MBBS and MD from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, thus he started his career in the healthcare sector before joining politics.
In the year 2014, he came into the national political arena. He had contested for the Lok Sabha election from the Nagina constituency of Uttar Pradesh on a BJP ticket. He bagged the election, hence shifting his career from medical to parliamentary, he became a Member of Parliament for the first time.
Dr. Singh was a Lok Sabha MP from 2014 to 2019. During this period, he took part in the Lok Sabha sessions, addressed problems of the people in his area, and even carried on the political debate. Thus, his persona epitomised the BJP’s electoral strategy of attracting professionals into politics in that election.
He contested for the Lok Sabha seat from Nagina in the 2019 general elections but lost. Therefore, he was out of the parliament as of 2019.
As of 2025, Dr. Yashwant Singh is still a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and is actively involved in public and political life despite his background in medicine and governance.
