Vishwajit Rane Biography

Vishwajit Pratapsingh Rane is a successful goan politician and a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Goa headed by Manohar Parrikar. He is the son of Pratapsingh Raoji Rane who is a former Chief Minister of Goa and an incumbent Indian National Congress party MLA in the Goa Legislative Assembly. He later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and was sworn in as a Cabinet Minister in 2017 in the government led by Manohar Parrikar and was allotted the Health portfolio. Vishwajit Rane was born in Mumbai to a veteran politician and his wife Vijayadevi Rane. He did his schooling in Panaji's People's High School. Vishwajit graduated from the Goa University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and obtained a postgraduate diploma in Management Studies from the T. A. Pai Management Institute at Manipal.

• 2017: He was again elected as MLA from Valpoi seat. Later he was sworn in as the Cabinet minister and was allotted the Minister of Health in Government of Goa
• 2012: He successfully contested assembly elections and became MLA of Valpoi. He defeated Francisco Silveira of INC.
• 2010: Was the Minister of Health, Agriculture & Craftsmen Training in Government of Goa till 2012.
• 2007: He was elected to Goa Assembly from Valpoi as an independent MLA. He defeated Gaonkar Puti of BJP. Later he became the Minister of Health, Agriculture & Craftsmen Training in Government of Goa.
• 2000s: Vishwajit Rane started his political career with Congress Party. Parallel to his activities in INC he started an organization named Sattari Yuva Morcha.
