Vijayashanti , who is also known as the "Lady Amitabh" because of her powerful screen presence, has acted in more than 180 films in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada languages and made her mark. Her role in the movie Karthavyam (1990) was so impressive that she got the National Film Award for Best Actress.
Her political career is like a swing that changed the party sides. She joined the BJP in 1997 and was actively involved in the party’s women’s wing. In 2005, she started her own party, Talli Telangana, which was a party for the separate Telangana state, and later she merged it with the TRS.
She won the Lok Sabha seat from Medak in 2009. After a few disagreements, she left the TRS and went back to the BJP in 2020. Vijayashanti, in November 2023, left the BJP and came back to the Congress. She was given a prominent position as Chief Coordinator of the Campaign & Planning Committee.
