A novice to the field of politics Udasi Shivakumar Channabasappa was a builder who graduated in Engineering before he decided to contest in 2009 elections under the BJP banner. He wasn't completely oblivious about the intricacies of running a campaign as he was involved in his father M Udasi at Hanaga campaign during the assembly elections. He defeated Saleem Ahmed of INC in two consecutive elections and is presently the sitting MP of Haveri constituency in Karnataka.
