A Retired(IAS) Govt. Servant, Sukhbilas Barma is the MLA of Jalpaiguri assembly constituency in West Bengal. He was elected in the16th Legislative Assembly elections as INC candidate and defeated Dharttimohan Roy of AITC. He also contested in the 2014 by-elections from Jalpaiguri, however he lost against BJP candidate Satyalal Sarkar by ma margin of over one lakh votes.
