Amarinder Singh Brar, popularly known as Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, currently serves as the President of the Indian National Congress Party in Punjab. Orphaned at a young age, Warring embarked on his political journey, initially learning under the guidance of Congress leaders Randeep Surjewala and Jagmeet Brar.
His political career took shape as he served as an MLA for Gidderbaha and later as a Cabinet Minister for Transport. In April 2022, he was appointed as the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. Despite the party's setback in the recent Punjab Assembly polls, Warring emerged victorious in his constituency of Gidderbaha for the third consecutive term.
Prior to his current role, Warring held the position of National President of the Indian Youth Congress from 2014 to 2018. Notably, he succeeded Navjot Singh Sidhu as PPCC chief following the latter's resignation after the election results.
Despite his electoral success, Warring faced exclusion from the Amarinder Singh Cabinet due to a lack of closeness to the former Chief Minister.
The grand old party has fielded him from the Ludhiana seat in the 2024 general elections.
