VT Balram

VT Balram is a notable presence among the young political leaders of Kerala. VT, who rose to prominence through the activities of student youth organizations, currently represents the Trithala constituency in Palakkad. VT Balram was active in politics during his student life.
He was a University Union Councilor during his studies at Guruvayoor Srikrishna College (1997) and Thrissur Government Engineering College (2001).He was also elected a member of the Senate of Calicut University in 1999-2000 and 2006-2007. He was also the editor-in-chief of the KSU state committee publication 'Kalashala'. He has also held the positions of State Secretary (2009–2010) and State General Secretary (2010-2013) of Youth Congress.VT contested the elections for the first time in 2011. His first victory was defeating P Mummykutty of the CPM in Trithala.The victory was by a majority of 3197 votes. In the 2016 elections, VT won by a majority of 10,547 votes over Subaida Isaac of the CPM.He is currently a member of the Senate of the Cochin University of Science and Technology, a member of the State Council for Vocational Training and a member of the State Food Advisory Council.Reading, Travelling, Social Networking and Cartooning are his hobbies.Was the Editor of ‘Kalasala Magazine’ Published by KSU State Committee. He has admitted his son to a government school and declared that he does not want to raise him in any religion or caste.
