Sita Soren is the daughter-in-law of JMM chief Shibu Soren and sister-in-law of Hemant Soren, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand.





She was accused of receiving money from RK Agarwal in voting in 2012 Rajya Sabha election. Over 2 crore rupees were seized from her residence on the day of the 2012 elections. Subsequently, she was in jail for seven months.

• 2024: She switched from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the general election for not being selected as the Chief Minister after Hemant Soren’s (her brother-in-law) arrest. The BJP has chosen her to contest the Dumka seat against JMM's Nalin Soren in the 18th Lok Sabha election but she lost. She has been nominated again by the party to contest from the Jamtara seat in the 2024 assembly election.
• 2019: Elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly from the Jama constituency.
• 2014: She was re-elected from the Jama seat for the second consecutive term.
