Sita Soren was born on February 21, 1975, in the Dumka district of Jharkhand. She is married to the late Durga Soren, son of veteran leader Shibu Soren, placing her within one of Jharkhand’s most prominent political families.

Following her husband’s death in 2009, she entered active politics and was elected as MLA from the Jama constituency on a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ticket. She retained the seat in 2014 and 2019, establishing herself as a key regional leader.
