Shyama Charan Gupta Biography

Shyama Charan Gupta, the architect, and CMD of Shyama Group of companies is presently the MP of Allahabad constituency. He contested the 16th Lok Sabha election as a BJP candidate. In 1984 he contested his first election as an independent candidate from Banda but was defeated by Bhisn Deo Dubey of INC, who won by securing 1,42,085 votes. However, the loss was merely a blip in his radar, as he became the Mayor of Allahabad in 1989. In 1991 he contested and lost the Lok Sabha election from Allahabad constituency as a BJP contender. His political career was dormant for over a decade after which he contested and won in 2004 elections from Banda constituency as an SP candidate. He lost the following election from Phulphur. However, he ran a successful campaign in 2014 elections as a BJP candidate and became the MP of Allahabad.
