Shamanuru Shivashankarappa is a senior MLA from Davanagere South Assembly Constituency. He is a veteran Congressman, who represents Davanagere constituency. He began his political career in 1969, he got selected as a Municipal Member of Davanagere. In 1971, he got selected as a Davanagere Municipal Council President. And, he is also the president of All India Veerashaiva Mahasabha. He has also worked as a Treasurer of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee. In 2023 assembly election, Shamanuru won by receiving over 57.59 per cent of votes from Davanagere South constituency.
