Born on 7 July 1964, Nabam Tuki was a former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. He was born in Ompuli, Sagalee sub-division, Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh. Tuki belongs to the Nyishi tribal community and was passionate about social service from boyhood. Though he wasn’t able to complete his graduation he has risen from the ranks as a student leader. He was active in politics from his student days and transited to national politics from student organizations. He held the position as the chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh twice between 2011 and 2016. His first term spanned between November 2011 and January 2016, while the second term merely lasted for 3 days in the month of July 2016. He belongs to the Indian National Congress. Tuki represents Sagalee Consitituency in Papumpare district.

Nabam Tuki Achievements

Under his tenure as the chief minister, biometric census operations was launched in Arunachal Pradesh. Rental Housing Projects were launched by Tuki at Itanagar and Naharlagun. The key objective of these schemes are to protect the economic future of cities by integrating the urban poor into mainstream, providing shelter to all and holistic development of slums. He also inaugurated an ambitious project for management of solid waste at Chimpu, costing Rs 1194.38 lakhs. He also launched the web enabled Arun e-PDS system for Papum Pare district. This system aims to provide easy, fast and accountable services in supplying PDS items to the most vulnerable sections. Nabam Tuki was bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement award for Peace by the International Association of Educators of World Peace (IAEWP), affiliated to the United Nations. He was also the recipient of the Green State of the Year Award conferred by the body Clean up the Earth (CUTE) on behalf of the Arunachal Government.
