Rupali Ganguly

Rupali Ganguly is an actor, theatre artist, and now politician. She gained prominence for her portrayal of 'Monisha Sarabhai' in the comedy TV serial 'Sarabhai VS Sarabhai.' Born on April 5, 1977, in Kolkata to Anil Ganguly, a Director and Screenwriter, her passion for acting bloomed early in her life.

At the age of seven, Rupali embarked on her acting journey, securing her debut role in the film 'Saaheb' followed by appearances as a child artist in her father's film, Balidan. Throughout her academic pursuits, she immersed herself in the world of theatre, joining a local group and honing her craft in commercial plays.

Her television debut came in 2000 with the lead role in the serial 'Sukanya,' paving the way for roles in popular shows such as 'Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi' and 'Zindagi…Teri Meri Kahani.' However, it was her portrayal of Dr Simran in 'Sanjivani' that truly brought her recognition, but she skyrocketed to fame with her comedic brilliance in 'Sarabhai V/S Sarabhai as Monisha.

Rupali's repertoire extends to various TV serials including 'Bhabhi,' 'Kkavyanjali,' 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii,' 'Aapki Antara,' and 'Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi.' She also showcased her versatility as a contestant on reality TV shows like 'Bigg Boss Season 1,' 'Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 2,' and 'Kitchen Champion 2.' Her film credits include 'Angaara,' 'Do Ankhen Barah Hath,' and 'Satrangee Parachute.'

After a hiatus, Rupali marked her return to Indian television in 2020 with the serial 'Anupama.' Alongside her acting pursuits, she lent her voice to the animated film 'Dashavatar' and established an advertising agency in Mumbai in 2000.

Transitioning into politics, Rupali aligned herself with the Bharatiya Janata Party on May 1, 2024. On a personal note, she shares her life with her husband Ashwin K Verma, and they are proud parents to their son, Rudransh.
