Rama Devi Biography

Rama Devi is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a well-known politician from Bihar. She was born on May 5, 1949, in Lalganj, Vaishali district. While living in Muzaffarpur, she pursued her law education, and the college she attended has been considered the base for her association with the government and parliamentary affairs.

In 1998, she was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha from Motihari constituency as an RJD candidate, thus starting her political journey. In 2000, she became a Cabinet Minister in the Bihar government and, under the supervision of Chief Minister Rabri Devi, she managed the Public Health and Engineering Department. In 2009, she switched to the BJP and consequently was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from Sheohar. After that, she was able to keep this seat in 2014 and 2019 as well.

Rama Devi’s name has always been on the list of the members who actively participate in the parliamentary proceedings, advocate for social welfare, and try to increase women’s representation in politics. Besides this, she has also been a part of the Panel of Chairpersons in the 17th Lok Sabha, which has given her an edge in legislative discussions and governance reforms.
