Ram Nath Kovind Biography

Ram Nath Kovind is currently serving as the 14th and current President of India since 25 July 2017.
He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is also the first person from Uttar Pradesh to serve as President of India.
Previously, he served as the 26th governor of Bihar and as a member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha.
Initially, Kovind was a lawyer for 16 years and practiced in the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India.
On the personal front, Ram Nath Kovind was born in the Koli family of Maiku Lal and Kalawati on 1 October 1945, in Uttar Pradesh. He was only five when his mother died of burns. Kovind holds a bachelor's degree in commerce and an LLB from DAV College. Subsequently, he completed the civil services examination as well.
However, Kovind started his political journey with the BJP in 1991.
