Raghav Lakhanpal was born on 21 January 1969 in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and later practised as an advocate before entering active politics. Coming from a politically aware background, he became associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party and gradually rose through its organisational ranks in Uttar Pradesh.

He first gained legislative experience at the state level when he was elected as a Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Sarsawa constituency in 2012 as a BJP candidate. His tenure in the state assembly marked his emergence as a prominent BJP leader in the Saharanpur district.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Lakhanpal contested from the Saharanpur constituency and won as a BJP candidate during the party’s nationwide electoral surge. He was re-elected from Saharanpur in the 2019 general elections, consolidating his position as a two-term MP and strengthening the BJP’s base in western Uttar Pradesh.

During his parliamentary tenure, he has served on various standing committees and participated in debates related to regional development, infrastructure, and law and order concerns in Uttar Pradesh.
