Nitinbhai Ratilal Patel Biography

Nitinbhai Ratilal Patel is a politician from Gujarat and presently serves as Deputy Chief Minister and cabinet minister for Health, Medical Education, Family Welfare, Road and Building, Capital Project. He was formerly Minister for Water Supply, Water Resources, (excluding Kalpsar Division), Urban Development and Urban Housing. He was elected to Gujarat Legislative Assembly from Mehsana in 2012. On August 5, 2016, Patel was appointed Deputy Chief Minister. He belongs to Kadva Patidar community which raised the demand of reservation under OBC. During the quota agitation, he faced the ire of his own community as his home and office were attacked.

Nitin Patel has studied up to B.Com second year. He has the family business of edible oil and cotton ginning. He has not been on the national spotlight very often. He came in the news when he called the terror attack at Pathankot airbase a "small incident". The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party slammed him for his comments but Patel denied making any such statements.

• 2017: He was again won from Mehsana by defeating Patel Jivabhai Ambalal of Congress. And then he was again elected as deputy chief minister of the state. Along with that he was given the charge of ministries of - Finance, Roads and Building, Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education, Narmada, Kalpasar, Capital Project.
• 2012: He was elected from Mehsana assembly constituency. He defeated INC candidate Patel Natvarlal Pitambardas.
• 2008: He became Deputy Chief Minister and Minister: Water Supply, Water Resources (except Kalpsar Section), Urban Development and Urban Housing.
