Nara Lokesh was born on January 23, 1983, in Hyderabad (then part of Andhra Pradesh) into the politically prominent Naidu family; he is the only son of N. Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Bhuvaneswari. He completed his education abroad, including an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in science from Carnegie Mellon University.
Lokesh started his political career in 2014 when he became General Secretary of the Telugu Desam Party, which he used to handle membership development and party operations that led to TDP’s organizational growth.
Lokesh became a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council in 2017, and he joined his father’s government as Minister for Information Technology, Panchayati Raj, and Rural Development, where he served until 2019.
He contested his first direct election in the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly election from Mangalagiri, which resulted in a narrow loss to YSR Congress Party candidate Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, who defeated him by 5,337 votes.
In the 2023–2024 period, Lokesh directed the Yuva Galam Padayatra, which functioned as an extended grassroots movement throughout Andhra Pradesh, while assisting the TDP and its allies in recovering their political power.
In the 2024 Assembly election, he was elected MLA from Mangalagiri with a decisive victory (over 91,000-vote margin), and he became a state cabinet member in June 2024, which included management of Human Resources Development, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, and Real Time Governance responsibilities.
Lokesh has worked on investment attraction activities and education reform projects, while he also established partnerships for the development of skills and technology initiatives to benefit Andhra Pradesh.
