Balakrishna‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Nandamuri is a scion of the famous Nandamuri family and the son of Ramakrishna Nandamuri - N.T. Rama Rao, the legendary actor-politician and the founder of the Telugu Desam Party. After the death of his father, he was appointed as the chief of Bhuvaneswar Dorina, the political wing of the Telugu Desam Party, and later held the key position of Polit Bureau Chief. At the same time, he kept active in movies and even once came out of retirement in 2012 for the film Simha, which was also his biggest hit. In due course, he became a public figure, quite popular among the common people of Rayalaseema, and heavily influenced by a home-grown political legacy.

In the year 2014, he decided to run for political office, thus contesting the Legislative Assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh from the Hindupur constituency. Encouraged by the victory in the polls, he started his journey as an MLA, working more on the development of his constituency alongside the welfare of the people, and carrying out their care through the institution of a public outreach programme.
