Balakrishna Nandamuri is a scion of the famous Nandamuri family and the son of Ramakrishna Nandamuri - N.T. Rama Rao, the legendary actor-politician and the founder of the Telugu Desam Party. After the death of his father, he was appointed as the chief of Bhuvaneswar Dorina, the political wing of the Telugu Desam Party, and later held the key position of Polit Bureau Chief. At the same time, he kept active in movies and even once came out of retirement in 2012 for the film Simha, which was also his biggest hit. In due course, he became a public figure, quite popular among the common people of Rayalaseema, and heavily influenced by a home-grown political legacy.
In the year 2014, he decided to run for political office, thus contesting the Legislative Assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh from the Hindupur constituency. Encouraged by the victory in the polls, he started his journey as an MLA, working more on the development of his constituency alongside the welfare of the people, and carrying out their care through the institution of a public outreach programme. The people of Hindupur trusted and supported him by word and deed, and thus he became their leader.
Not only that, Nandamuri Balakrishna has again successful in winning elections from Hindupur in the year 2019, and his power continued during the time of political transition in the State. During this term in office, he was very much present in the debates of the Assembly and party organization matters, and was always active in the programs of his constituency. At the same time, he participated in charitable social work and was a member of various cultural trusts.
He was also a candidate for the Assembly election from Hindupur in 2024, and for a third time, he got the most votes and went on to win the electoral race with another achievement of his career. As of 2025, Balakrishna Nandamuri is a senior TDP legislator, and he has not lost the influential power in Andhra Pradesh politics that he had before, and at the same time, he is not indifferent to social and healthcare initiatives.
