Murlidhar Mohol

Murlidhar​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Mohol was born on 9 November 1974 in Mulshi tehsil, which is near Pune. After that, he has been living in the Kothrud area of Pune city. He has graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Shivaji University, Kolhapur. During his younger years, he was a very active wrestler. From the very young age of 12, he was himself part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) shakha activities, and later he joined politics through the BJP at the city-level, and through civic bodies, he was gradually promoted to higher positions.

He became a corporator of the Pune Municipal Corporation by public ballot, and then, as Chairman of its Standing Committee, he started his significant career in public office. In November 2019, he got the post of Mayor of Pune through election and held the position till March 2022. During his mayoral tenure, he practiced and preached the ideas of sustainable urban mobility (including e-buses) and major infrastructure projects in Pune.

In the 2024 General Election, he was a candidate from Pune Lok Sabha constituency and won the election by a margin of over a lakh votes against that of the opposition candidate. Next, he was appointed as the Minister of State in the central government (for Civil Aviation and Cooperation) shortly after the ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌election.
