Manik Saha was born on January 8, 1953, in Tripura. He pursued a career in dentistry and established himself as a respected dental surgeon, also serving as the president of the Tripura State Dental Council. Before entering active politics, he was associated with professional and social organizations, building a reputation in the medical community.
He initially had links with the Indian National Congress before joining the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2016. His rise within the BJP was swift, and he became the party’s state president in Tripura, playing a crucial role in strengthening the party’s organization in the state.
In 2022, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha and soon after was chosen as the Chief Minister of Tripura, succeeding Biplab Kumar Deb. His appointment marked a significant leadership transition within the BJP in the state.
He later contested and won the Town Bordowali Assembly by-election, securing his position as Chief Minister. Under his leadership, the BJP retained power in the 2023 Tripura Assembly elections, after which he was sworn in again as Chief Minister. Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha criticized the opposition party Tipra Motha ahead of its assembly election 2023.
