Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar

Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar was born to Chakradhara Rao and Basava Purnamma in Avanigadda on 8th August 1956. He married Usha Rani in 1975 and was blessed with one son with her.

He actively joined the Jai Andhra Movement and began his political career with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). In 1978-1980, he led the Democratic Student Organisation as its President. Since 1999, he has held the position of State President of the Legal Cell within the TDP in Andhra Pradesh. Later, he represented the Government of Andhra Pradesh as an Advocate in Inter-State River Water Disputes in the Supreme Court from 2002-2004.

Elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) to the Rajya Sabha in 2018, he served on various committees, including the House, MPLADS, External Affairs, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Petitions, and the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Home Affairs during 2018-2019.

In the year 2020, he got elected to the Rajya Sabha as a Member representing Andhra Pradesh on a Telugu Desam Party ticket. With his election, he made his entry to the Upper House of Parliament, from where he started taking the state issues to the national level.

After 2020, Ravindra Kumar has been active in the Parliament of India by participating in debates and doing committee-related work, related work along with the discussion of policy matters that affect the state of Andhra Pradesh. In the Rajya Sabha, he has been involved in raising governance-related issues as well as those of the federation and the development of his region.

Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar is still a Member of the Rajya Sabha, continuing to engage in parliamentary debates and the affairs of the Telugu Desam Party as of 2025.

Apart from this, he likes reading books and participating in political and legal debates.
