Yanamala Ramakrishnudu

Yanamala Ramakrishnudu was born on 12 December 1950 in Tuni. He completed his higher education in law and worked as an advocate before entering active politics. His professional background in law helped shape his understanding of legislative procedures and governance.

He joined the Telugu Desam Party, founded by N. T. Rama Rao in 1982. Soon after the party’s rise in Andhra Pradesh politics, Ramakrishnudu became one of its active leaders in the East Godavari region.

In the 1983 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, he was elected as a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Tuni Assembly constituency. Over the next two decades, he was repeatedly elected from the same constituency, establishing himself as a prominent political figure in the region.

Ramakrishnudu served as Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1996 to 2004, presiding over legislative debates and Assembly proceedings during an important period of state politics. His tenure as Speaker is considered one of the longest in the Assembly’s history.

Later, he served as Finance Minister in the government led by N. Chandrababu Naidu after the 2014 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, handling the state’s financial administration during the early years following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

As of 2026, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu continues to be active in the Telugu Desam Party and participates in political discussions in the state.
