Actor turned politician, Jaya Prada of BJP was a two time MP of Rampur. She contested and won the elections as an SP candidate. She forayed into politics as a member of TDP, however, due to certain skirmishes she joined SP. She was expelled from the party for stirring trouble and indulging in anti-party activities. She floated her own party- Rashtriya Lok Manch- which was rendered obsolete, but later joined RLD and ran for Binjorseat in Uttar Pradesh. She lost the elections. In 2019 she decided to shift her alliance to BJP. Speculation is rife that BJP may field her for Rampur seat in Uttar Pradesh. Prada was a prominent Indian film actress before she ventured into politics. Her movies were commercially successful and some were critically acclaimed winning her several awards in the industry. In a career that spanned over two decades, she has acted in more than 280 films in different languages ranging from Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam and Marathi. She joined TDP in 1994 and quickly climbed through the ranks of the party.
