Hullappa Yamanappa Meti was a senior leader of the Indian National Congress (INC) from Karnataka, who was widely regarded for his stronghold in the rural areas and his long-standing political career. The native of Bagalkot district has spent a significant portion of his life in public service and was especially tuned in the areas of rural upliftment, irrigation, and the implementation of welfare programs for farmers and the less fortunate communities.
He has been elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from the Bagalkot constituency as a representative of the people several times and has made a name for himself through the implementation of the developmental initiatives in the region. In addition, he was a Cabinet Minister in the Karnataka government and was in charge of the portfolios related to Excise and Small-Scale Industries.
He died at the age of 79 on November 4, 2025, while receiving treatment in Bengaluru. Across Karnataka's political spectrum, there has been widespread mourning for his passing.
