H D Revanna Biography

Hardanahalli Devegowda Revanna, born on December 17, 1957, is a prominent figure in Indian politics. He is the son of former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda and Chanamma, and the elder brother of H. D. Kumaraswamy.

Revanna began his political journey by winning the Holenarasipur assembly seat in Karnataka in 1994. Since then, he has consistently represented the Holenarasipur constituency, securing victory in every election since 2004.

Throughout his career, Revanna has held significant positions within the government. Notably, he served as the Minister of Public Works Department in the cabinet of H. D. Kumaraswamy.

Currently, he serves as a member of the Legislative Assembly in Karnataka, effectively representing the Holenarasipur constituency in the Hassan district.

Revanna is married to Bhavani Revanna and is a father of two sons, Suraj and Prajwal. His son, Prajwal Revanna, followed in his footsteps and was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Hassan constituency in 2019, further solidifying the family's political legacy.

Interesting Facts about H D Revanna

1. On the astrologer’s advice, he once travelled between Bengaluru and Holenarasipura, his assembly constituency in Hassan — a round trip of 350 km every day.

2. The complaint of sexual assault was filed by a 47-year-old woman against him and his son, Prajwal Revanna, Hassan MP at the Holenarasipur Town Police Station. The woman, a domestic worker, accused both father and son of sexual assault. According to the complaint, the woman was employed at Revanna's home, where HD Revanna allegedly assaulted her in the storeroom.

The woman who reported the FIR is missing so he is accused of kidnapping that woman and is taken into custody as the court rejects preventive bail for him. He was scheduled to have his bail plea hearing on Wednesday, May 8. However, he failed to get relief as his bail plea hearing was adjourned.
