Dr Virendra Kumar

Dr. Virendra Kumar, a distinguished educationist and stalwart Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, hails from Sagar in Madhya Pradesh. Born on 27th February 1954 to Amar Singh and Sumat Rani.

From his early years, Dr. Kumar's association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) laid the foundation of his commitment to national service. He embarked on his journey in student activism as the Convenor of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (A.B.V.P.) in Sagar District, championing the cause of students and initiating vital reforms, including the establishment of libraries for educational enrichment.

Transitioning into mainstream politics, he assumed pivotal roles within the BJP, serving as the General-Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Sagar District and later as the Convenor of Bajrang Dal. His relentless efforts culminated in his successful foray into electoral politics, securing consecutive victories in the Lok Sabha elections from the 11th to the 17th term, earning the trust and confidence of his constituents.

Dr. Kumar's parliamentary tenure was marked by his unwavering dedication to public service. He served as a member of various ministries, including Labour and Welfare, Railway, and the National Social Security Board.

Elevating his role in the 17th Lok Sabha elections, he was appointed as the Speaker Pro-tem. Furthermore, his appointment as the Union Cabinet Minister in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment underscored his commitment to societal welfare and empowerment.

Beyond his political endeavours, Dr. Kumar's humanitarian pursuits are commendable. He champions causes aimed at alleviating the plight of the underprivileged, promoting education, healthcare, and social welfare.
