Devendra (Alias) Bhole Singh is an Indian politician. He is a member of parliament, representing the Akbarpur Lok Sabha constituency in the lower house.
Devendra (Alias) Bhole Singh, born on April 2, 1954, in Madhwapur, Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh, to Darshan Singh and Kanak Rani, is a seasoned Indian politician.
In the upcoming 2024 general elections, he is slated to contest from the same Lok Sabha constituency where he has established a strong presence over the years.
Currently, since September 13, 2021, he serves as a Member of the Standing Committee on Energy. Prior to this, from September 13, 2019, he was a Member of the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Food Processing.
In May 2019, Devendra Bhole Singh was re-elected to the 17th Lok Sabha, marking his second term. During this tenure, he also served as a Member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Home Affairs.
His political journey traces back to May 2014 when he was first elected to the 16th Lok Sabha.
Preceding his national political career, from September 1997 to March 1999, he held the esteemed position of Minister, Independent Charge, Department of Family Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Prior to this, from March 1997 to September 1997, he served as Minister in the Department of Medical Health, Uttar Pradesh.
Bhole Singh has a strong foothold in state politics as well, having served as a Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly for two terms, from 1991 to 1992 and again from 1996 to 2002.
Before his foray into legislative roles, he served as Block Head of Jhinjhak (K.D.) from 1988 to 1992.
Apart from his political commitments, Bhole Singh has a profound interest in social welfare. He actively engages in various initiatives at the district level, including organising mass marriage ceremonies for economically disadvantaged girls and facilitating the provision of artificial limbs to the physically challenged through camps and seminars.
