Chandrani Murmu was born to Sanjib Murmu and Urbasi Soren in Keonjhar in 1993. She is not new to politics, her maternal grandfather, the late Harihar Soren, was a Congress MP in 1980 and 1984. Her maternal uncle, Harmohan Soren, a social worker, told her that the Biju Janata Dal was looking for a young and educated woman to represent Keonjhar, an ST-reserved constituency. Following the advice of her uncle, she fought and defeated two-time former MP and BJP candidate Ananta Nayak.
Her special interest lies in the improvement of education among the people living in rural areas.
In addition to this, she likes to work for the development of poor people. She also tries to bring the tribal culture in front of the society.
In her free time, she enjoys listenting to music, reading, dancing and drawing.
