B. P. Saroj

B. P. Saroj was born on 1 January 1961 in Madardeeh, Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh. He pursued higher education at the University of Allahabad and later built a professional background in business, agriculture, and related local enterprises before entering parliamentary politics.

Before joining the BJP, he had earlier contested elections as a member of the Bahujan Samaj Party. His early political efforts helped establish his visibility among Scheduled Caste communities and rural voters in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

In 2014, he contested the Lok Sabha election from Machhlishahr but was unsuccessful. However, he remained politically active and later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, which significantly reshaped his electoral trajectory.

In 2019, he contested the Lok Sabha election from Machhlishahr as BJP candidate and won by a margin of 181 votes, one of the narrowest victory margins in the country that year. The victory marked his entry into Parliament as Member of the 17th Lok Sabha.

During his parliamentary tenure from 2019 to 2024, he remained involved in constituency development, public outreach, and legislative responsibilities. In 2024, he contested again from Machhlishahr but was defeated by Priya Saroj of the Samajwadi Party.

As of 2026, he continues to be active in public life, maintaining his political relevance through regional engagement, organisational activities, and constituency-level interactions in Uttar Pradesh.
