Biography
Azam Khan is the founding member of Samajwadi Party and a member of seventeenth Legislative Assembly in Uttar Pradesh. He has served as the MLA of Rampur constituency for nine terms. After graduation, Azam Khan did his LLB from Aligarh Muslim University in 1974. He started practising as a lawyer and later he joined politics. Before joining Mulayam Singh Yadav he had been affiliated with Janta Dal, Lok Dal and Janta Party. In 1992, when Mulayalam Singh Yadav left Janata Dal and launched Samajwadi Party, Azam Khan had a key role in the formation of the party.
