Abu Asim Azmi

Abu Asim Azmi, a senior Indian politician from the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Maharashtra, is an important person in the political arena of that state. Holding the office of State President of SP for Maharashtra, he also acts as the MLA of Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar constituency in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for the third time.

Not only that, Azmi is a former member of parliament from the Rajya Sabha; he has been and still is being mobilizing people in the grassroots from the Muslim-dominated areas of Mumbai. Besides, he is still fresh in the public and party politics as he was in 2025.

Abu Asim Azmi Biography

Abu Asim Azmi was born on 8th August 1955 in Manjeer Patti in Azamgarh (Uttar Pradesh), to Haji Niyaz Ahmad Azmi and Ajrunnisan-Niyaz Ahmad.

He is the state President of Samajwadi and has served as the MLA for Mankhurd Shivajinagar in Mumbai for three terms. He was also a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. Additionally, he is the Chairperson of Niyaztrust and MilliTahreek Foundation.

Azmi has been a member of the Radio Club in Colaba, Mumbai, since 1992, actively participating in various club activities, particularly in sports.

He married Zaheda Asim Azmi on 1st February 1980, and the couple has one son and five daughters. His net worth is estimated at Rs 1,26,88,03,276. However, he has been involved in nine criminal cases.
