Ahamed Devarkovil

Ahamed Devarkovil was born on 20 May 1959 in Kozhikode, Kerala, to Shri Oruvayil Valappan Moosa and Smt. Mariyam. He completed his pre-degree and Urdu Higher Education and also undertook business studies, later becoming active in student politics.

He began his political career in the Muslim Students Federation (MSF) during his school days and went on to hold organisational roles in the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) before joining the Indian National League (INL). In the INL, he has served as State President, National General Secretary, and held various community and cooperative leadership positions.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Devarkovil contested from the Kozhikode South constituency and won, defeating the IUML candidate with a notable margin, marking his first term as MLA.

Following his election, on 20 May 2021, he was appointed as Minister for Ports, Museums, Archaeology, and Archives in the Government of Kerala under Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, where he oversaw state policies related to port infrastructure and heritage sectors. He resigned from the cabinet on 24 December 2023 as part of a reshuffle.

As of 2026, he continues to serve as an MLA, participating in legislative debates and constituency development.
