Waheed Ur Rehman Para

Waheed Ur Rehman Para is dedicated to fighting corruption, improving governance, and empowering young people.

At 34, he's already made a big impact in Kashmir’s politics, especially in areas that used to be troubled by militancy. He shows his commitment by going door-to-door and speaking to people directly, even in difficult situations.

Despite facing many challenges, including spending 19 months in jail and being prevented from taking the oath after being elected to the District Development Council (DDC), Para remains focused on helping his community.

He was also nominated as a Peace Fellow at Yale International Leadership Centre in 2023, but was denied a passport.

His story of determination and hard work connects with many young voters in his constituency, who see him as a symbol of hope and change. Para’s focus on empowering youth and engaging with them continues to inspire a new generation in Kashmir.
