Veena George

Veena​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ George is a native of Kerala, born and raised. One of her most significant achievements, before being involved in electoral politics, was to act as a journalist. This position gave her a good understanding of public issues, the concept of social justice, and the necessities of the less-privileged sections of society. Her early professional career equipped her with excellent communication skills and gave her some knowledge regarding health, welfare, and social problems in Kerala.

Veena went from being a journalist and an activist to being a formal politician due to her concern for public health and community welfare. She ran for the state assembly election and was successful, therefore becoming the representative of the people. Over time, she built her reputation as a leader who was approachable and focused on the grassroots.

She always made it a point to visit villages, attend public meetings, and be present among the people to listen to their issues and then solve them. The main reasons she attracted voters among the women, health, and social justice sectors were that she was different from her contemporaries and thus enjoyed support from a cross-section of the electorate.

During her time as a minister in the Kerala government, she has been actively involved with the implementation of the various schemes aimed at the welfare of the people.

She has also made it her mission to improve public health infrastructures and to encourage the use of non-discriminatory policies further. She has always been a great supporter of openness and community interaction in dealing with public needs, which has been her focus throughout her term.

She is also very much involved in linking up with social causes and in championing women’s rights and affordable public health services, besides justice for all across the entire state, aside from her political activities.

By 2025, she is still considered a leader who has a lot of influence at the state level and is well known among the public, with a very active presence in the areas she ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌represents.
