T. R. Paarivendhar

T. R. Paarivendhar (born 24 August 1941) is an Indian politician, educationist, and founder-chairman of the SRM Group of educational institutions. He is the founder-president of Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi (IJK), a regional party in Tamil Nadu. Paarivendhar was elected as a Member of Parliament from Perambalur in the 2019 Lok Sabha election on a DMK-alliance ticket.

In 2024, he contested again from Perambalur on a BJP symbol but lost.

As of 2026, he remains active in politics and educational leadership.

T. R. Paarivendhar Biography

T. R. Paarivendhar, also known as T. R. Pachamuthu, was born on 24 August 1941 in Thandavarayapuram Village, Attur, in the then Madras Province. He trained in mathematics and engineering and went on to build a career in education.

He founded the SRM Group, which grew from a single engineering college to the SRM Institute of Science and Technology and associated educational institutions with a broad national presence.

Paarivendhar entered politics by founding Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi (IJK) in 2010, aiming to promote opportunities for educated youth and professionals in the political arena.

In 2019, he contested the Perambalur Lok Sabha seat as part of the DMK-led alliance and won with a decisive margin. He served in the 17th Lok Sabha until June 2024.

In 2024, after IJK joined the National Democratic Alliance, he contested the Perambalur seat on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) symbol but was defeated.

As of 2026, Paarivendhar remains active in party and public affairs while continuing his leadership in education.
